Bryan Miller, a lawyer who works in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, leads the Democratic Professionals Council, a regional group of moderate and business-oriented Democrats.
Miller said the presidential hopefuls are working with gubernatorial and congressional candidates and appearing before his group because Broward and Palm Beach counties are full of wealthy donors who can help fund their campaigns.
"They're down here to build fundraising bases," Miller said.

Chris Jarski is the kind of Democrat the party is eager to court: He's young, a business owner and itching to get involved, but the 33-year-old never found an easy outlet to express his politics in Palm Beach County.
That is, until he discovered the Democratic Professionals Forum, a fledgling group trying to attract business professionals to a party that has a commanding voter majority but struggles to keep pace with Republican fundraising.

Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean's speaking gig at a sold-out Wednesday lunch in West Palm Beach is the latest coup for the Democratic Professionals Forum, the 10-month-old group led by Gunster Yoakley attorney Bryan Miller that has drawn potential 2008 Democratic presidential hopefuls Evan Bayh and Mark Warner to previous events.
Dean's appearance came about after the DNC heard about Miller's group and contacted him.
"The buzz is pretty strong," said a Washington DNC operative.
