Michelle Oyola McGovern is Senator Bill Nelson’s Regional Outreach Director for the Treasure Coast, serving Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, Hendry, and Glades Counties. Michelle has worked for Senator Nelson for more than six years. She worked full time on the Senator’s initial campaign for the Senate and then moved to Washington D.C. to work for the newly elected Senator as a legislative aide, focusing on education, women’s issues, and the environment. Five years ago, Michelle returned to Palm Beach County to open the first U.S. Senate office in the county’s history.
Michelle is a native of Palm Beach County and an alumnus of Florida Atlantic University. While at FAU, Michelle was Student Body Vice President and was asked by then Governor Lawton Chiles to serve as the University’s first Student Regent to the Florida Board of Regents. Michelle is a Leadership Florida Member (CLF Class 1) and one of the founding board members of The West Palm 100, a social and civic organization comprised of young professionals. Before coming to work for Senator Nelson, Michelle worked for the Florida Department of State in the Division of Elections and for the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Michelle and her husband John, an attorney, live in West Palm Beach with their one year old daughter, Emilia.
